Sixth play by FMU professor to debut at Trustus
Another play by Francis Marion University’s Dr. Jon Tuttle is set to make its debut.
Boy About Ten, a farce depicting what happens to kids when their parents don’t grow up, will debut August 17-25 on the Thigpen Main Stage at Columbia’s Trustus Theatre.
Tuttle, a professor of English at FMU, is a decorated and experienced playwright. Boy About Ten is Tuttle’s sixth world premier at Trustus. His plays have received more than 100 performances nationwide and he is a recipient of the South Carolina Theatre Association’s Founder’s Award and fellowships from the South Carolina Arts Commission and the South Carolina Academy of Authors. Tuttle is the playwright in residence at Trustus.
Tuttle earned a Ph.D in English from the University of New Mexico and has published and presented scholarly articles on modern fiction and drama, playwriting and the literature of the Vietnam War. He is an adjudicator for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and as a speaker at varied writers’ conferences across the country.
