S.C. Watermedia Association exhibits coming to FMU’s University Place Gallery
The South Carolina Watermedia Society will bring its 41st National Exhibition to Francis Marion University’s new University Place Gallery in downtown Florence, Nov. 2 to Dec. 7.
The SCWS’ big annual show, held in conjunction with the organization’s annual meeting, will feature the work of 74 artists from across the state and region. Thirty artists will be honored at an awards banquet during the group’s annual meeting in Florence.
Additionally, FMU is hosting another exhibition honoring past presidents of the SCWS at the Kassab Gallery in the Hyman Fine Arts Center on the FMU campus until Nov. 7.
The campus exhibition, which will feature select work from 11 different past presidents of the SCWA, will overlap the national exhibition. The president’s exhibition will also include biographies of the featured presidents and history of the SCWMA.
Kassab Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m to 5 p.m.
The South Carolina Watermedia Society has been promoting the artistic and professional interests of its members as well as providing visual arts programs to the public since 1977.

The Society works towards achieving its goals by making the accomplishments of its members available to a broad base of South Carolinians.
The SCWS is the largest statewide visual arts group. It nurtures and promotes South Carolina artists by providing exhibition opportunities, special programs to market their original works and coordinate educational programs.
