Preceptor Information: Francis Marion University Physician Assistant Program

We anticipate the need for more primary care practitioners will continue now and into the future. Francis Marion University’s Department of Physician Assistant Studies is a 27-month program consisting of 15 months of didactic instruction and 12 months of clinical rotations. Students will rotate through 7 core clinical and 2 Elective education experiences consisting of 4-week rotations. Core rotations are Primary Care, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine with arranged Inpatient Medicine exposures, Surgery, Women’s Health, and Behavioral Medicine. In addition, students will have 2 elective additional 4-week rotations in specialties of their choosing. (*Students may elect to use an elective rotation to lengthen a present rotation or return to a clinical rotation that offers additional educational or possible employment opportunities upon graduation.) We hope you will consider precepting students in your practice for their clinical rotation components.

Our Medical Director is Dr. William Hazelwood, MD internal medicine. Dr. Hazelwood is employed by McLeod Regional Medical Center Florence, SC. Dr. Hazelwood is an enthusiastic supporter of the PA program. Our office is ready to assist you in preparing for, working with and evaluating students.
