Francis Marion University honors four alumni at Awards Gala
Francis Marion University honored Dr. Randy Dozier (’77) as its 2019 Outstanding Alumnus at the University’s annual Alumni Awards Gala Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center.
Dozier was one of four alumni honored.
Dozier earned a bachelor of Arts degree from FMU, where he graduated cum laude, and has spent his entire career within the field of education. Dozier is the superintendent of the Georgetown County School District, a position he has held since 2003.
Dozier has served on the FMU Board of Trustees from 1991 until 2000 and rejoined in 2002 and served as the board’s chairman from 2011 to 2014. He currently serves as the board’s vice chair.
Lieutenant Colonel Randy Reynolds, USA Retired, received the Professional Industry Award in Public Service and Law. Reynolds (‘88) graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Francis Marion and is currently the Chief, Security, Plans and Operations Office at Army Geospatial Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Baron Davis (’95) received the Professional Industry Award in Education and Arts. Davis graduated from Francis Marion with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Francis Marion and is currently the superintendent of Richland School District 2. He is the first African-American to hold the position.
Baron is also a member of the Francis Marion University Alumni Association Board.
Cody Simpson, III (’13, ’17) received the Benjamin Wall Ingram III Young Alumnus Award. Simpson graduated from Francis Marion with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Business Administration. Simpson is an aide to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster.
