Francis Marion to host award-winning guitarist
Francis Marion University will host a renowned guitarist for a Valentine’s Day performance that is sure to captivate.
Robert Trent, a well-traveled classical guitarist focusing on works from the 20th century, will perform at FMU’s Adele Kassab Recital Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 2:30 p.m.
Trent’s works have been lauded by the press – the New York Times referred to his classical interpretations as “dignified, formal, and carefully thought out, with a sense of structural integrity that informs every passing tone” – and his fellow musicians alike as the winner of the prestigious Webb National Guitar Competitions, the Masterworks Young Artist Competition and the chamber music prize at the international competition Arturo Toscanini in Italy.
He is in his 24th year as full music professor at Radford University and in his 17th year as director of the Radford University Annual International Guitar Festival.
The performance is free and open to the public.
