FMU’s Panza receives MAA-SE teaching award

Dr. Nicole Panza, an assistant professor at Francis Marion University, has received the Mathematical Association of America Southeast Section (MAA-SE) Award for Teaching by a Beginning College or University Mathematics Faculty member.

As its name suggested, the award honors university mathematics faculty who have demonstrated extraordinary teaching abilities early in their careers. Nominees will have taught full time in mathematical science in the southeastern section for at least two years, but not more than a total of seven years.

Panza received her Ph.D in applied mathematics from N.C. State University.

The award was presented at the MAA-SE meeting March 7 in Cleveland, Tenn.
