FMU’s Gamble receives prestigious grad school offers
Anquan Gamble was always fascinated with computers, coding, and anything related to cyberspace, but he never thought he’d be able to make a career of it.
The soon-to-be FMU Computer Science graduate from Kingstree, S.C. is preparing to do just that as he exits the University with a bevy of graduate school offers.
Sporting offers from University of Georgia, Carnegie Mellon, Florida State University, the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and others, Gamble will graduate from FMU feeling well-prepared for the next step in his education.
“FMU’s Computer Science program was just the right size for me,” Gamble says. “The professors are all willing to take time with you one-on-one to make sure you’re understanding the material and that you have an opportunity to succeed.”
The time that his professors spent with him provided Anquan with the reliable and generous reinforcement that he needed.
From there, he’s been able to take a subject that he enjoys, and become somewhat of a master of it.
“Anquan is a fantastic student, and it is gratifying to see his progress in the field of computer science,” says Padmaja Rao, the coordinator of FMU’s Computer Science program and an assistant professor of Computer Science.
Anquan knows he’s intrinsically talented, but if you ask him, if it weren’t for the dedicated faculty at FMU, he wouldn’t be making his next educational step.
“Francis Marion gave me the opportunity to develop my skills, but also as a person,” he says. “My experiences at FMU have made me who I am.”
