FMU to hold two fall 2023 Commencement Ceremonies

Francis Marion University will hold commencement ceremonies on Friday, December 15 and Saturday, December 16 for its fall 2023 graduating class.

Two ceremonies will be held in the Smith University Center and include graduates from the university’s four academic schools and colleges. Each graduate will be allowed ten guests, and a ticket is required for entry.

Guests without tickets may watch the livestream in Chapman Auditorium. The livestream will also be accessible online at www.fmarion.edu and on the FMU YouTube channel.

Students from the School of Business and School of Health Sciences will graduate during Friday’s ceremony. Senator Thomas C. Alexander, president of the South Carolina Senate, will serve as the commencement speaker and will receive an honorary doctorate of humanities. Camden Mayor Alfred Mae Drakeford will also receive an honorary degree Friday evening.

On Saturday, students from the College of Liberal Arts and School of Education will receive their degrees. The commencement speaker will be Senator Katrina Frye Shealy. Honorary degrees will be given to Senator Shealy and Mr. Daniel S. Dukes, IV during the morning ceremony.

FMU President Fred Carter will deliver remarks during each ceremony.

The ceremonies are scheduled as follows:

Friday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m.: School of Business/School of Health Sciences

Saturday, December 16 at 10:00 a.m.: School of Education/College of Liberal Arts
