FMU Artists Series brings international performers to PAC
Two world-renowned musicians are making their way to the Francis Marion University’s Performing Arts Center over the next week as a part of the FMU Artist Series.
On Thursday at 7:30 p.m., violinist Francisco Cabán will take the stage in the Black Box Theater, blending his brilliant technique, masterful virtuosity into memorable interpretations of Vivaldi, Mozart, Franck and Ravel. Cabán will be accompanied on piano by FMU professor of music Dr. Paolo Gualdi.
Thanks to Artist Series sponsorship, admission is free to FMU faculty, staff and students, and just $5 for the general public for Cabán’s performance. With an international performing career, Francisco Cabán has performed across the United States, Mexico, Japan, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Peru and Puerto Rico.
Acclaimed pianist Enrique Graf will punctuate the 2017 Artist Series with a Mainstage performance at the Performing Arts Center on Monday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. Graf has become well-known for his fiery performances incorporating both his virtuosity and penchant for classical works by Chopin, Mussorgsky and more.
Reservations may be made by calling the FMU Performing Arts Center at 843-661-4444 between 12:00 and 5:00 pm. The first 100 tickets for each Mainstage performance are free to FMU students (you must show your FMU ID at the Box Office to receive a ticket). Thanks to Department of Fine Arts sponsorship, all remaining tickets are just $5 each.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Graf began studying piano at the age of four with his mother. After winning all of the national competitions in Uruguay, he was awarded a full scholarship from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and the Organization of American States to study with Leon Fleisher.
