Step 1: Complete The SC State Department of Education application. (https://ed.sc.gov/educators/teaching-in-south-carolina/student-teaching/)
- Any questions related to the State Department of Education Application need to be directed to The State Department of Education.
- Candidates applying for clearance to enter student teaching must have all required documentation on file with the SCDE (South Carolina Department of Education). Required documentation includes the application, fee, and background reports.
If you are student teaching in:

Fall – Due February 15th (ex. Due February 15, 2024 if student teaching Fall 2024)

Spring – Due June 15th (ex. Due June 15, 2024 if student teaching Spring 2025)
The School of Education will submit the required official transcript and recommendation for certification at the end of the student teaching semester. (Please note, this can’t be completed until the transcript reflects completion of degree)
Step 2: Complete the Application For Clinical Experience by using QR code below, or by selecting application

g 2024 if student teaching Fall 2024)

Spring – Due Wednesday of the first week of class during Fall semester (ex. Due Wednesday of first week of class in Fall 2024 if student teaching Spring 2025)
- Students will be required to attach copies of all attempted, whether passing or failing, Praxis II and/or PLT exams to the Application for Clinical Experience. Students are required to have passing scores for ALL required Praxis exams by Reading Day the semester prior to student teaching.
Applying for Graduation
Undergraduate students need to apply for graduation by visiting https://www.fmarion.edu/registrar/
Graduate students will be emailed an application to complete for graduation.
