Francis Marion University will award degrees to 329 new graduates at its fall commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m.

Francis Marion University monitoring Hurricane Michael, will operate on normal schedule
Hurricane Michael is moving towards South Carolina and FMU officials are continuing to monitor its approach. It’s expected to reach our area during the day on Thursday.
Francis Marion will re-open Wednesday
Due to extensive flooding and widespread power outages throughout the Pee Dee River Basin, Francis Marion University will remain closed Monday and Tuesday.
Maintenance crews will be on campus Monday and Tuesday dealing with minor damage that occurred as a result of the storm, but essential systems on campus survived the storm in good shape.
Assuming major roadways are passable by mid-week, FMU will re-open on a normal schedule Wednesday.

FMU, in conjunction with South Carolina Humanities, will look to jump start the conversation on several thorny topics related to race and culture in America when it hosts a first-of-its-kind symposium Feb. 26-28.

Francis Marion University will conduct its first-ever academic quiz bowl tournament — the President’s Bowl — Feb. 13 through March 8 of 2018. The competition will pit three-member teams of FMU students in matches of intense, cranial combat using the time-honored Quiz Bowl format.
