World Water Day Celebration
Saturday, March 1st, 10 a.m. – 2. p.m. at the FMU Freshwater Ecology Center. 3742 N. Williston Rd.
Join us for this family-friendly event featuring:
- STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) activities for kids
- Fishing demos by SC DNR
- Live animals with Black Creek Wildlife Center
- Paddling demos by Naturally Outdoors
- Information tables by SC DNR/Pee Dee River Basin Council, SC DHEC, SC Office of Resilience, Pee Dee Land Trust, Winyah River Alliance, and more
- Be the Change table – learn more about the UN’s World Water Day and make your personal commitments to solve the water and sanitation crisis.
- Food Trucks
This event will be held rain or shine, with a rain plan to move it indoors if needed.
Public Access
The FEC is working hard to develop areas that can be made available for public use. These developments include hiking trails and public access for fishing. You’re invited to visit our complex and see all that’s happening for yourself!


Pond Management Workshop
Saturday, March 29th, 9 a.m. – 12. p.m. at the FMU Freshwater Ecology Center. 3742 N. Williston Rd.
This workshop will cover all the basics of pond management in South Carolina. Including what fish and how many to stock, how fast do they grow, how many should be harvested, how to manage water quality, and how to manage aquatic vegetation. There will also be a live electrofishing demonstration on Goodson Pond!
Midmorning snack included.
