Forestry Major, Bachelor of Science
Department of Biology
Growing a better future
Coordinator: Dr. Vernon Bauer
The Forestry program seeks to train the next generation of forestry professionals to meet society’s demands for the management and protection of forests for recreation and commercial use. The rigorous academic curriculum and intense practical experience in the field gives students the understanding and skills they need to solve current and future forestry challenges. The Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry is for students wishing to pursue careers in forestry and natural resources management. The Forestry major requires the completion of 120 total credit hours, including the General Education courses, core preparation courses, and an upper level Technical Program of theoretical and practical courses in forestry.
Coming Fall 2025
The start of the program is dependent on several factors, but is primarily affected by the building of the new Forestry and Environmental Science Facility. This building is scheduled to be completed in late 2025/early 2026. Candidacy for accreditation from the Society of American Forestry requires a site visit during the application phase so the building needs to be in place as the program starts. Please follow this page for updates and exciting announcements regarding the development of the new Forestry Program.
