Description: Focuses primarily on the works of Dryden, Swift, Pope and Johnson. Through a wide range of reading, including texts by a number of minor authors, students will investigate the major themes of Restoration and 18th century literature. Particular attention will be given to satire and works that explore the uses and limitations of rationality.
