Description: This course expands on the basic concepts of pharmacology presented in Nursing Pharmacology I, with emphasis on the study of broad drug classifications and their related nursing implications. The mechanism of action, therapeutic uses, side effects, adverse effects, interactions, and contraindications of medications that affect the central nervous system, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, musculoskeletal, gastrointestinal, and reproductive systems are discussed. Drug therapy for the skin, eye and ear will also be included. The considerations related to genetics, ethics, culture, and economics are addressed throughout the course.
