FMU to host “Remembering Jimmy Carter” program on February 11

Dr. Scott Kaufman, professor of history at Francis Marion University, will present a program entitled “Remembering Jimmy Carter” at the Carter Center’s Porter Auditorium on Tuesday, February 11 at 4pm in downtown Florence.

President Jimmy Carter, who passed away last December, was a president whose record has been a matter of debate. Some argue that he was a failure, others say he was a victim of forces beyond his control, and still others contend that his time in office was one of significant accomplishment.

Kaufman, who has written and edited nearly a half-dozen books on Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, will offer evidence supporting all sides of this debate. He will then give the audience an opportunity to weigh in on how we should remember America’s longest-lived president.

This free event is sponsored by FMU’s Department of History and Phi Alpha Theta.
