International Perspectives Welcomes Dickson Monk

International Programs had the honor of hosting Dickson Monk, Executive Director of the Columbia World Affairs Council, this past Wednesday, January 29. Monk visited classes on campus Wednesday morning, including Business Writing and Principles of Marketing, before his keynote address, “Applying a Global Vision: International Opportunities and Public Diplomacy for Any Occasion.”

Dickson Monk has been leading the World Affairs Council since 2016 and has worked in Columbia, South Carolina for most of his career. Monk touched on his position at the World Affairs Council, stressing its purpose of deepening the communities global perspective and advancing global understanding in the area.

With extensive knowledge of Columbia and the international relations in the area and across the state, Monk expressed the multitudes of transatlantic partnerships connecting Columbia to both network and sister cities across the globe.
