Grant Assistant – Nursing Department (25-01)
Francis Marion University and the Nursing Department invite applications for a Grant Assistant for the Graduate Nursing program. This is a temporary, grant-funded position with the possibility of renewal for up to four years.
The Grant Assistant, under the limited supervision of the Principal Investigator, will perform a variety of advanced secretarial, clerical, administrative, and grant duties. The candidate will be responsible primarily for tracking graduate nurse practitioner students receiving a HRSA Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW), tracking plans of study, clinical learning experience, employment information upon graduation, and preparing reports of expenditures and budgets and potentially future grants. The successful candidate must have office and computer skills, and excellent communication skills (both written and oral). Must be organized, self-motivated, confident, able to work under stress, and flexible in fluid situations.
Duties/characteristics include but are not limited to:
- Ability to communicate in person and in writing, communication on the telephone with faculty, staff, students, practice partners, and the public.
- Able to pay attention to detail.
- Collect, enter, and analyze data for the ANEW HRSA grant.
- Perform grant reporting.
- Must be able to utilize and understand the use of Excel spreadsheets.
- Demonstrate discretion and discernment with sensitive information abiding by FERPA and HIPAA standards.
- Record minutes at meetings as needed.
- Maintain and service departmental office equipment in common areas.
- Document and follow graduate clinical learning experiences in coordination with the Administrative Assistant and the Student Service Coordinator.
- Maintain student electronic files up to include clinical learning experience documentation.
- Maintain database of graduate nursing students and report accurate numbers for each cohort.
- Helps to prepare and distribute promotional materials, orientation packages, and to ensure students are following the plans of study.
- Monitor student compliance with clinical requirements.
- Perform various other managerial tasks as needed.
- Work independently.
FMU Preferred Requirements: A bachelor’s degree. Advanced office and computer skills. Experience with internet-based research. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel software programs. Experience with technical writing.
Normal working hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm (Monday-Friday). May need to be present for occasional departmental events. Summer hours will vary.

Salary: $27,000
