Student Life Specialist (24-97)
Francis Marion University and the Office of Student Life invite applications for the full-time, temporary position of Student Life Specialist, who will plan, coordinate, and manage student activities, support the mission of the University, and the Office of Student Life.
The Student Life Specialist is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
- Provides comprehensive support services for registered student organizations and student organization advisers.
- Serves as advisor to the Campus Activity Board of Students to plan events and activities.
- Coordinates and develops ways to market and advertise student activities and events via digital, print, and social media.
- Available for evening and weekend activities such as Freshman Move-In, Welcome Week, First Friday, FM A’Glow, Student Organization trainings, Student Leadership Conferences, Commencement, and any additional student activities and events that might be held throughout the year.
- Assists the Student Life office in the planning, development, and implementation of programing of events for the students, campus community, and the Florence community.
- Provides active and involved leadership for the students and student organizations.
- Assists the Student Life office with Greek Life recruitment, programming, and initiatives.
- Serves as an active and participating member of the office of Student Life.
The Student Life Specialist reports to the Vice President for Student Life.
*This position may be converted to FTE.
State Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree.
FM Preferences: A Bachelor’s degree. The successful candidate will have knowledge of creative event planning for student activities and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, students, alumnae, parents, and the public. Experience with event planning and ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously and working with student organizations at the college or university level. Knowledge and proficiency with computers software applications such as WordPress, Colleague, Excel a plus. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the marketing and promotion of student activities.
Note: This is a temporary position, and it is not covered by the state grievance policy. The duration of the position will depend upon the needs of the Student Life Department. Participation in the South Carolina State Retirement system and Health Insurance programs are optional.
